July 13, 2020

Image of red bar soap and green liquid soap for blog on which performs better

Both are equally effective in thorough hand washing. The choice depends on the cost, type of experience preferred and desire for sustainability.

Soap Bar

Liquid Soap

Can be drying

Less drying since often includes moisturizers

Messier with soap residual (any bacteria on soap washes away so not a concern)

Cleaner area around soap

More sustainable packaging

Less sustainable plastic packaging

Lower cost

Higher cost

Less waste since it lasts longer

More waste since much more is used each time than soap, and product is heavier to ship

Easier to remain natural since no water and thus no preservatives needed

Not as natural since requires preservatives, and ingredients to create lather
