RADICAL ACCEPTANCE - TAYLOR’S PATH TO SOBRIETY

January 30, 2023

"I was addicted to going really freaking fast. I drank to get drunk for many years." - Taylor

I'm happy to share Taylor's story, another in our blog series, each focusing on one person's journey. Sobriety comes in many shapes and sizes and every experience is respected.

It means a lot to share these stories since our own family member has struggled with addiction. In fact, this person gave the blog its name with the quote below explaining what sobriety means to her. These experiences motivate us to donate nontoxic body care to recovery and sober living centers. -Cindy, Founder of H. Honeycup.

My name is Taylor Raye, I'm from Omaha, Nebraska. I've been drug and alcohol free for 3.5 years.

TURNING POINT
I was addicted to going really freaking fast. I drank to get drunk for many years. My turning point was when I looked in the mirror and didn't recognize the chick looking back at me! I wanted off the ride.

FOCUS ON SELF
Living alcohol free for me has been a balance of self-love + self-awareness! Meditation, breathwork, gratitude, weights. Journaling. Visualizing. Running like hell towards the woman I want to become.

BEING PRESENT
The thing I value most in my sobriety is my time. I'm present and tapped in. My babies have a mom they can brag about.  My liberation + happiness. I feel free. Every area of my life has been positively impacted by ditching the booze.

"The most common misconception around alcohol is that it adds any benefit to your life. It's literally poison that takes years off your life and takes you away from the present moment."

TAYLOR'S WAY

"Helping other women out of the destructive cycle gives me life!"

I don't align with AA meetings. I'm a mama of two and run two successful businesses! It's always been hard for me to make it to meetings. I have a holistic approach to maintaining sobriety! Gratitude, nervous system regulation, breathwork, movement, healthy eats, good sleep! Helping other women out of the destructive cycle gives me life!

LOVE IS MOTIVATING

"I’m very proud that I've been able to live a sober lifestyle alongside my pops! You would think that I'm Mrs. America or something with how proud he is!"

My biggest influencer in my sobriety has been my dad!! He's been alcohol-free for fifty something years. I've never seen him take a drink! He always warned me of the negative effects of alcohol growing up. I remember repeating “you can have fun without it” as a little girl. Lol. I’m very proud that I've been able to live a sober lifestyle alongside my pops! You would think that I'm Mrs. America or something with how proud he is!
